For the Fallen Dreams Metalcore Band

Michigan’s Hardcore Champions
For the Fallen Dreams metalcore band was founded in Lansing, Michigan, in 2003. Infusing melodic hardcore with metalcore aggression, they've remained a dominant force in midwestern metal for over two decades.
Their debut demo marked a shift from deathcore to melodic intensity. In 2008, they released Changes, which laid their foundation in melodic metalcore. This was followed by Relentless (2009), which peaked at #29 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.
The third album, Back Burner (2011), introduced heavier clean vocals and guitar-driven compositions. Written after songwriter Andrew Tkaczyk's departure, it built on their melodic roots while embracing a more aggressive tone.
Wasted Youth (2012), their only release under Artery Recordings, showcased dynamic songwriting, technical drumming, and a post-hardcore edge. It featured bassist Brandon Stastny and drummer Dylan Shippey in new roles.
Vocalist Dylan Richter returned in 2013 as the band signed back with Rise Records. Their fifth full-length, Heavy Hearts (2014), peaked at #162 on Billboard 200 and #3 on Heatseekers, blending emotional lyricism with crushing breakdowns.
After parting from Rise, the band signed to Arising Empire. In March 2023, For the Fallen Dreams metalcore band released their self-titled seventh album, featuring singles like “What If,” “No Heaven,” and “Without You”.
Lead guitarist Jim Hocking (a founding member) and returning vocalist Chad Ruhlig guide the current lineup. Alongside Damon Tate (guitar), Kalan Blehm (bass), and Marc Esses (drums), they continue to shape their identity and evolve musically.
Critics and fans praised the self-titled album for its maturity and refined sound. Metal Epidemic described it as “ferocious yet familiar,” showcasing their ability to evolve within the metalcore genre.
Live, the band remains a powerhouse, performing at major U.S. festivals and tours—fuelled by energetic breakdowns, melodic yet intense choruses, and a loyal fanbase. Their enduring presence cements their legacy in the scene.
With seven albums and countless shows, For the Fallen Dreams metalcore band stands tall as melodic hardcore innovators. Their blend of aggression, melody, and emotional depth continues to define the modern metalcore landscape.
